8 slices whole wheat bread, crusts removed, cut into ½ inch squares
2 tablespoons butter, cut into ¼ inch squares
2 cups milk
2 (4.5 oz.) cans green chiles, drained and chopped
1 cup low-fat sharp cheddar cheese, shredded
Salt and pepper to taste
Instructions
In medium skillet, brown and crumble sausage over medium high heat. Drain oil.
In a large bowl, beat eggs slightly and add bread, butter, milk, chiles, cheese, salt, pepper and cooked sausage. Mix and pour into greased 9x13-inch baking dish.
Refrigerate, covered, at least 1 hour or overnight. Bake uncovered at 300 degrees for 1 hour, until puffed and golden.
